The Library Marketing Show, Episode 80
I recently learned that there are some library marketers who face push back when they try to make sure their marketing materials are accessible.
Accessibility is a library mission. One in five people around the globe live with a disability. Libraries will never be truly inclusive until they design services, programs, and marketing with this group in mind. And so, in this episode, I’ll share some strategies to help you make sure this goal becomes a reality at your library.
Kudos in this episode go to the Hutchinson Public Library for their advocacy idea that they deploy during Library Lovers Week.
Do you have a suggestion for a topic for a future episode? Want to nominate someone for kudos? Let me know in the comments. And subscribe to this series to get a new video tip for libraries each week. Thanks for watching!

Wow, Angela! What a surprise! Thank you so much for the kudos. Your kind words made me feel so fantastic, and smart even! Which is saying somethin’ with my perpetual crisis communication brain right now! 😂 I have shared this with our staff so they feel good too, and I am using this vlog post as an opportunity to discuss the ways our library is already making our marketing materials accessible and how we can do more and do better. Our staff already supports making things accessible, so we don’t need the convincing of the why, but more of the how. I watched the recorded sessions of the LMCC 2020 and started incorporating some of the Accessible Communications Toolkit in our new website design (to be launched hopefully by mid-Spring).
Anyway, thank you again, and I have watched your vlog and read your blog for well over a year now. I love it! You do such a great job, you are so genuine and give such great advice. Thank you for all you do to help us Library Marketers! Hope to see you at the next Library Marketing Book Discussion Group.
Take care,
Kate Lewis
